Marlina Elburg is Associate Professor of Igneous Petrology at the University of Johannesburg, who did her undergraduate degree at Utrecht University (The Netherlands), and her PhD at Monash University (Melbourne, Australia). The petrology and (isotope) geochemistry of igneous rocks is her main research area, with a focus on granitoids and arc volcanics. Geochronology, radiogenic isotope geochemistry and archaeometry are some of her other scientific interests. She has worked at various universities and institutes in Australia (Monash, Adelaide University), Europe (Max-Planck-Institute Mainz, Free University Amsterdam, Ghent University) and South Africa (UKZN), where she supervised a number of MSc and PhD students. Her academic efforts have been documented in more than 70 peer-reviewed publications in international journals.
