CIMERA Students Shine on the International Stage: Australia and Germany

The DSTI-NRF Centre of Excellence for Integrated Mineral and Energy Resource Analysis (CIMERA) was proud to be featured on UJFM as part of an interview highlighting postgraduate research, student experiences, and the importance of science communication.

Representing CIMERA were postgraduate students Ayakha (MSc) and Kwame (PhD Candidate), who shared their academic journeys, research interests, and reflections on pursuing postgraduate studies within the Centre. Their conversation offered listeners an insight into the people behind the science, demonstrating how research is driven by curiosity, resilience, and a desire to make a meaningful impact.

The interview also highlighted how CIMERA supports the development of emerging researchers through mentorship, collaboration, research excellence, and opportunities that extend beyond the laboratory.

CIMERA Centre of Excellence Manager, Busisiwe Maphalala, joined the discussion to introduce the Centre and share its commitment to developing the next generation of geoscientists while advancing impactful research in the minerals and energy sectors.

We extend our sincere thanks to UJFM for providing a platform to showcase the voices of our postgraduate students and for helping bring geoscience research to a broader audience.

Most importantly, congratulations to Ayakha and Kwame for representing CIMERA with professionalism, confidence, and passion. Their stories serve as an inspiration to aspiring researchers and demonstrate the impact of investing in postgraduate education and research.
