CIMERA University Visit Tour Makes its Third Stop at UP

CIMERA’s 2026 University Tour continued with its third stop of the year at the University of Pretoria (UP) Department of Geology, providing another opportunity to connect directly with CIMERA-funded students and the wider department.

The team was welcomed by Prof. James Roberts, Head of the Department of Geology, who opened the visit with an overview of the department and shared some interesting insights and statistics on Geology at UP and its contribution to developing the next generation of geoscientists.

CIMERA-funded students then presented their research, sharing their current work and progress with the team. These presentations remain an important part of the University Tour, allowing CIMERA to engage directly with students and gain greater insight into the research being supported across our partner institutions.

The visit concluded with a tour of the geology facilities and further engagement with the department.

As the third stop on the 2026 University Tour, the UP visit continues CIMERA’s commitment to maintaining strong connections with its students, supervisors and partner universities while seeing first-hand the research and postgraduate development taking place across the CIMERA network.

CIMERA thanks Prof. James Roberts, the UP Department of Geology and our CIMERA-funded students for the warm welcome and an engaging visit.

On to the next stop!
