Call for Entries: Science Writing Competition 2025
DSTI-NRF CIMERA is excited to launch the Science Writing Competition 2025, an initiative aimed at helping young researchers and students sharpen their ability to communicate science to a broader audience.
The competition encourages participants to explain the significance of their research in simple, engaging language that non-specialists can understand. By doing so, researchers not only improve their science communication skills but also learn how to connect their work to real-world challenges and opportunities.
Why does this matter? Science writing bridges the gap between academic research and society, ensuring that important discoveries and insights are not locked within technical papers but shared in ways that inspire, inform, and influence communities, industries, and policymakers.
📌 Who can enter?
Geoscience students and postdoctoral research fellows; prizes to be awarded to CIMERA funded students.
📌 Submission guidelines:
- Submit a short-written piece (600-800 words) in English (Word document).
- Email entries to cimera@uj.ac.za.
- Highlight why your research matters in the real world.
