Science Writing Competition
One of the challenges facing the sciences is our limited ability to write and share scientific research suitable for non-scientific audiences. For a number of years, DSTI-NRF CIMERA has hosted a writing competition, challenging geoscience postgraduate students to ‘translate’ their research into a format more digestible for the general public. The competition guidelines include a word count limitation, the need for a catchy title, and a writing style that is not technical, but doesn’t lose the scientific importance of the work, and appeals to the imagination.
