Soft Skills Workshop Empowering the Next Generation of Geoscience Leaders

 

As part of the DSTI-NRF CIMERA Annual Research Colloquium, the Centre hosted a focused Soft Skills Workshop in collaboration with Women in Mining South Africa (WiMSA) on 25 November 2025 at the University of Limpopo’s Earth Science Building.  

 

The session was designed to equip postgraduate geoscience students with essential professional development skills that complement their academic training. Facilitators from WiMSA led an interactive programme covering communication, self-presentation, financial literacy, digital professionalism, leadership, and innovation. Through practical examples and open discussion, students were encouraged to reflect on their career journeys, build confidence, and recognise the importance of a strong professional identity in the workplace.
