CGS Lichtenburg Diamond Field Centenary Conference
10 – 11 September
DSTI-NRF CIMERA participated as an exhibitor at the CGS Lichtenburg Diamond Field Centenary Conference. A particular highlight was seeing three CIMERA-funded postgraduate students present their research to the geoscience community.
Puleng Nthebe (University of the Witwatersrand) presented Spectroscopic Characterisation of Palmietgat Diamonds; Jazmynn Eksteen (University of KwaZulu-Natal) presented The Changing Fortunes of the Mudbelt: Why the Seafloor Matters; and Ishta Maharaj (University of KwaZulu-Natal) presented Detailed Bedrock Morphology and Structural Geology Controls on Diamond Traps Offshore Hottentot’s Bay, Southern Namibia.
The conference provided a valuable opportunity to engage with the broader geoscience community while celebrating a century of geological discovery and diamond research in the Lichtenburg region.
